### The Business Class seat, aircraft by aircraft

Emirates sells one product in this cabin, called Business Class, but the seat depends heavily on the aircraft. The Airbus A380s used on US routes carry 76 business seats on the upper deck in a 1-2-1 layout, so every seat opens onto an aisle, and you can walk to the onboard lounge for a drink mid-flight. The Airbus A350-900 also uses a 1-2-1 cabin, with 32 seats, no middle seat and a minibar at each seat; it has no first class cabin.

### Read the full guide

The Boeing 777 is where the cabin varies. Emirates has been refitting its 777s nose to tail since 2024, and on a refitted 777-300ER the old center block of three is gone, replaced by a 1-2-1 layout with seats that match the latest A380s. Older 777-300ERs keep 42 seats in a 2-3-2 layout, where the window seats and the middle seat of the center three have no direct aisle access, and the seat-map reference aeroLOPA classes that bed as angled rather than fully flat. The refreshed 777-200LR seats everyone in pairs, six across, which leaves window seats without their own path to the aisle.

Emirates flies earlier and later versions of each type and can swap aircraft at short notice, so treat any layout as likely, not certain.

### Nonstop routes from the US

In the schedule aeroLOPA shows from late October 2026 into February 2027, Emirates flies daily nonstop to Dubai from eleven US airports: New York JFK, Boston, Washington Dulles, Chicago O’Hare, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Miami, Orlando, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Several ran fewer flights in September and October, so check the days for your dates. New York has two nonstops a day on the A380, Los Angeles and San Francisco also fly it, and Houston gets it back on 1 November 2026 after flying the 777-200LR since August. Boston, Chicago and Dulles are scheduled with older 2-3-2 777-300ERs, Dulles in place of its A380 until late March 2027. Dallas is scheduled with the 777-200LR, while Miami and Seattle have switched between the 777-200LR and the 777-300ER this autumn.

Orlando changes on 1 November 2026, when the A350 replaces the 777 on the daily flight, the first scheduled A350 service to a US city. Newark is different: its daily flight stops in Athens and uses a retrofitted 1-2-1 777-300ER, so it is not a nonstop to Dubai. Emirates also runs a daily A380 from JFK to Dubai by way of Milan.

### Lounges in Dubai and at US airports

In Dubai, Emirates runs separate First Class and Business Class lounges in Terminal 3, open 24 hours. The business lounges have dining, quiet areas, showers and a paid spa, and from the Concourse A lounges you board directly. Emirates is refurbishing its Dubai lounges, so one may be closed or partly open; in that case, use the lounge named on your boarding pass.

In the US, Emirates operates its own lounges at New York JFK, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Elsewhere, its lounge finder names a partner lounge, such as the Air France lounge at Dulles, the LOT lounge at Chicago or the British Airways lounge at Seattle, each with its own rules and hours. Access comes with the business ticket only when Emirates operates the flight; a codeshare leg flown by another airline does not qualify.

### Baggage and fare rules

Trips to and from the Americas fall under Emirates’ piece concept, so a Business Class ticket from the US includes two checked bags of up to 32 kg (70 lb) each, and each bag may measure no more than 150 cm (59 in) in combined length, width and height. A ticket from Asia or Australia to the Americas that includes a European sector or a Dubai stopover longer than 24 hours uses the weight concept instead, which allows 40 kg in business. In the cabin you may bring one 7 kg bag plus a 7 kg briefcase or garment bag.

Business Class is sold as Special, Saver, Flex and Flex Plus fares, and Flex Plus is fully flexible. From 10 August 2026, Emirates allows unlimited free date changes on Special, Saver and Flex business fares for trips to Dubai and has cut refund fees on them, and tickets booked from 2 April 2026 get one free date change anywhere on its network. You still pay any fare difference when the new flight costs more, and some fares carry cancellation charges or cannot be refunded, so read the fare conditions before paying. Seat selection is free in business.

### Connecting through Dubai

Every Emirates flight uses Terminal 3 at Dubai International. On one ticket, you follow the Connections signs to your next gate and your bags are checked through to your final stop, with no UAE immigration in between. The onward gate can be in Concourse A, B or C, and Emirates says moving between concourses takes about 30 minutes by train, bus or on foot. Business passengers should be at the gate at least 45 minutes before departure.

To see the city, Emirates lists US passport holders among those who get a visit visa stamped on arrival, for stays of up to 90 days, and you can add a Dubai stopover on the way out or back when booking. When no shorter connection exists, Dubai Connect may cover a hotel, meals, transfers and a short visa; request it at least 24 hours before your flight to Dubai (Emirates’ page says 12, its terms 24), and eligibility depends on the fare and route.

Coming home, there is no US preclearance in Dubai (the UAE site is in Abu Dhabi), so you clear US immigration and customs on landing. Check-in in Dubai for US flights opens 12 hours before departure rather than the usual 24.

### Choosing your flight and seat

If direct aisle access matters, start with the aircraft. The A380 flights from JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco and, from November, Houston, the A350 from Orlando from November 2026 and the refitted 777 through Athens give every business seat its own aisle. On a 2-3-2 777-300ER, pick an aisle seat and avoid the middle of the center three. On the 2-2-2 777-200LR, solo travelers do best in the center pair, while couples may like a window pair.

Aircraft swaps are common. aeroLOPA’s tracking showed a refitted 1-2-1 777 on about two-thirds of recent Dubai to Boston flights and a third of Dubai to Chicago flights, although both are scheduled with the older layout. Ask your agent to recheck the aircraft a few days before departure; if you change flights, seat choices for the changed flight are not saved, so choose again.

Timing matters too. Flights from Chicago, Boston and Orlando leave in the evening and reach Dubai the next evening. Heading home, flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Seattle and one JFK flight leave Dubai in the morning and land the same day; the Dulles, Miami and Orlando flights leave in the small hours.

    > Den Dunn worked with me to get the best price He planned our return trip from Turkeye with an airline that I had no knowledge about. He assured me that Turkish air was great, which they were. He planned our change of planes in Houston, and it was one of the smoothest transitions I have ever had. There was no long lay over. I will definitely be giving him a call the nest time we travel .

## Emirates business class: questions

### Is there a bar on Emirates flights?

On A380 flights, business and first class passengers can use the onboard lounge at the back of the upper deck. Boeing 777 flights do not have one.

### Can I stop over in Dubai on an Emirates business class ticket?

Many Emirates fares allow a stopover in Dubai, sometimes at extra cost. Ask an agent by phone, the quote form or WhatsApp to price the trip with a stopover; they confirm the fare and its conditions with you before you pay.

### Does every Emirates Business Class seat have direct aisle access?

No. The A380, A350 and retrofitted 777-300ERs use 1-2-1, where every seat reaches the aisle. On older 2-3-2 777-300ERs and the 2-2-2 777-200LR, window seats do not. Your agent can tell you which aircraft operates your flight.

### Which US cities have nonstop Emirates flights to Dubai?

New York JFK, Boston, Washington Dulles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Miami, Orlando, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles, all daily. Newark is served through Athens.

### Which US routes use the Airbus A380?

Through February 2027, both JFK nonstops, the JFK flight via Milan, Los Angeles and San Francisco are scheduled with the A380, and Houston from 1 November 2026. Dulles has a 777 instead until late March 2027. Your agent can confirm the aircraft for your date.

### How many bags can I check in Emirates Business Class from the US?

Two bags of up to 32 kg (70 lb) each, no larger than 150 cm (59 in) in combined dimensions, plus a 7 kg carry-on and a 7 kg briefcase or garment bag in the cabin.

### Do I need a visa to connect in Dubai?

Not for a connection between Emirates flights on one ticket, which stays inside Terminal 3. If you leave the airport, Emirates lists US passport holders as eligible for a visa on arrival for stays of up to 90 days.

### Can I use an Emirates lounge before my flight from the US?

Yes, with a Business Class ticket on an Emirates-operated flight. JFK, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco have Emirates lounges; other US gateways use a partner lounge.
