## Angled lie-flat seat, explained

Angled lie-flat seats were common in business class before fully flat beds became standard. They offer a long surface but not a level one.

You can still find them on some older aircraft and on some shorter flights. Seat maps and the airline's aircraft pages show which seat a flight uses.

The angle is small, a few degrees, but over a night flight it matters: sleepers tend to slide toward the footrest, and the seat feels closer to a long recliner than a bed. When two business class options cost about the same, the fully flat seat is usually the better choice for an overnight flight.

### On a business class trip

Two flights on the same route can have different seats, one fully flat, one angled, depending on the aircraft the airline uses that day.
