## First class, explained

International first class usually has only a few seats, often private suites with a bed and room for two to dine, and the airline's best food, drink and ground service, including dedicated lounges at some airports.

Fewer airlines and routes offer it every year; on many routes business class is the highest cabin. On US domestic flights, "first class" usually means a larger recliner seat, closer to international premium economy.

### On a business class trip

On a long flight to the Middle East or Asia, some airlines sell first class above business class; on most flights to Europe, business class is the top cabin.
