## One-way ticket, explained

On many international routes airlines price one-way business class fares high, so a one-way can cost nearly as much as a round trip. Some airlines, especially on routes with strong competition, price one-ways at about half.

When the return date is unsure, a round trip with a changeable return, or an open jaw, can price better than two one-ways.

Open-jaw and multi-city tickets solve many of the same problems as one-ways, because they are priced as one journey.

### On a business class trip

A traveler moving abroad compares a one-way business class fare with a round trip whose return is simply not flown, keeping in mind that skipping a flight can break the fare rules.
