The Business Class seat and which aircraft have it

Turkish Airlines sells one premium long-haul cabin, Business Class, and no first class. Every long-haul Business Class seat becomes a flat bed of up to 193 cm (about 6 ft 4 in), but the seat itself depends on the aircraft, and Turkish notes that aisle access varies by type.

The Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350-900 carry the newer seat in a staggered 1-2-1 layout, so every passenger reaches the aisle directly. Seat-map publisher aeroLOPA shows 30 business seats on the 787-9 and 32 on most A350-900s. Head for Points describes the Stelia-built seat as having no door but high privacy wings.

The Boeing 777-300ER is the exception. Most have 49 flat business seats in a 2-3-2 layout, so window passengers and the middle seat of the center three must climb past a neighbor. Two 777s have a 28-seat cabin in the same pattern, and the Airbus A330-300, seen on US routes now and then, uses 2-2-2.

A new suite called Crystal, with privacy doors and aisle access at every seat, is on the way. One Mile at a Time reported in August 2026 that it should debut on newly delivered A350s from about November 2026 and reach the 777s only in 2027 or 2028. Existing 787-9s have no firm retrofit plan.

Routes from the US to Istanbul

Turkish Airlines flies nonstop to Istanbul Airport (IST) from 14 US airports: New York JFK, Newark, Washington Dulles, Boston, Chicago O'Hare, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver and Detroit. Most run daily or more, with New York JFK busiest at three or four a day in summer. In February 2026, Upgraded Points listed Boston at six a week in fall and winter, Seattle and Detroit below daily for parts of the winter, Newark at five a week to daily, and Denver at three or four a week.

AeroRoutes reported that Turkish trimmed or held back several US schedules during 2026 as it moved aircraft to Asia, among them Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, New York JFK, Atlanta and Seattle, though none of those cuts ended a US route. Minneapolis-St. Paul and Philadelphia have been discussed without launch dates as of mid-2026. Have your agent check the operating days for your dates, especially from Denver, Detroit and Newark.

Lounges in Istanbul and at US airports

In Istanbul, business passengers on international flights use the Turkish Airlines Lounge Business, reached by escalator opposite Gate E1 after passport control. The airport lists it at 5,600 square meters with room for 765 guests. Turkish opens it to anyone flying international business on Turkish or another Star Alliance airline. A separate Miles&Smiles lounge opposite Gate C1 also admits Turkish business passengers, and domestic flights use a different lounge on the domestic floor.

Turkish lists its own lounges at three US airports: New York JFK (Terminal 1, between gates 2 and 3), Miami and Washington Dulles. Turkish is among the airlines lined up for JFK's New Terminal One, whose opening Simple Flying reported in September 2026 had slipped to early 2027. Elsewhere, expect a partner or contract lounge; ask at check-in which one.

Baggage and fare rules

On flights to and from the US, Turkish allows business passengers two checked bags of up to 32 kg (about 70 lb) each, with each bag no more than 158 cm in length, width and height combined. When another airline flies the most significant leg of a trip, that carrier's allowance can apply instead, so check the allowance printed on the ticket.

In the cabin, business passengers may bring two bags of up to 8 kg each, 16 kg in total, plus a personal item of up to 4 kg. Leaving the US, TSA checkpoints accept only one cabin bag and one personal item, so Turkish asks business passengers to hand the second bag in at the check-in counter, where it travels in the hold free of charge.

On many routes Turkish sells business in two packages, BusinessFly and BusinessPrime. Both include lounge access, free seat selection, priority check-in and boarding, and Fast Track where available. Change and refund conditions differ by package and route, and Turkish also lists promotional, restricted and flexible business fare types, so read the rules of the exact fare before paying.

How to connect through Istanbul

On an international-to-international connection you stay airside and do not pass Turkish immigration. Arriving passengers go through a transfer security checkpoint before reaching the departures floor, and the airport says only those who must collect bags or enter the country go through passport control.

An airport-assistance guide published in May 2026 says Turkish and the airport operator recommend at least 60 minutes for an international transfer, suggests about 90 at busy times, and notes that walks between distant gates can exceed a kilometer. In business, a layover of two hours or more is the comfortable choice and leaves time for the lounge.

A domestic Turkish connection means clearing immigration in Istanbul. The State Department says US ordinary passport holders need no visa for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The Stopover in Istanbul program pays for hotel nights on international layovers of 20 hours to seven days: on round trips starting in the US, up to three nights in a five-star or boutique hotel for business passengers, if every flight is Turkish-operated on one booking, the ticket is not in N or R class, and you apply at least 72 hours ahead.

Choosing your flight and seat

The aircraft shapes the trip more than anything else. AeroLOPA's recent flight tracking showed the A350-900 on nearly all San Francisco flights and the 787-9 on about half of the Washington Dulles, Los Angeles and Miami flights, while its 49-seat 777-300ER map listed New York JFK among its top routes. AeroRoutes filings show Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston on a mix of 777-300ER and 787-9. Swaps happen, so check the aircraft for your date before paying and again near departure.

On the 787-9, Head for Points found that window seats in even-numbered rows sit closer to the window and feel more private, while the other rows put the window seat nearer the aisle. Row numbering differs between subfleets, so read the seat map for your flight. On a 777-300ER, choose an aisle seat, or a pair of side seats if two of you travel together.

Seat selection is free in both business packages. Business Class passengers get up to 1 GB of free Wi-Fi, unlimited for Elite and Elite Plus members, and on overnight intercontinental flights to and from Istanbul you choose when your meal is served. Build any stopover into the ticket before it is issued so the hotel benefit applies.

Den Dunn worked with me to get the best price He planned our return trip from Turkeye with an airline that I had no knowledge about. He assured me that Turkish air was great, which they were. He planned our change of planes in Houston, and it was one of the smoothest transitions I have ever had. There was no long lay over. I will definitely be giving him a call the nest time we travel .

Diesel Bond was such a perfect agent. My Visa to Pakistan was extremely hard to do by myself. After 4 months going back forth with submission I was totally worn out. I had never used agency before and will never go back to doing myself! Your agency gave me such peace of mind! Will refer you to everyone! Charles Robards

She has great patience with me as my plans can change quickly. This last interaction was incredibly smooth and professional. Well done, Kate.

Turkish Airlines business class: questions

How do I book Turkish Airlines business class through BuyBusinessClass?

Call, send the quote form or message an agent on WhatsApp with your dates. A human agent checks Turkish Airlines fares through Istanbul and confirms the fare with you before you pay. Eligible fares usually earn miles; your agent can confirm.

Does every Turkish Airlines business seat have aisle access?

No. The 787-9 and A350-900 use a staggered 1-2-1 layout with aisle access from every seat. The 777-300ER uses 2-3-2, so window passengers and the middle seat of the center three step past a neighbor.

Which US cities have nonstop Turkish Airlines flights?

Fourteen: New York JFK, Newark, Washington Dulles, Boston, Chicago O'Hare, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver and Detroit. Denver runs a few times a week, and several routes fly less in winter.

When will the new Crystal business suite fly?

Reports in August 2026 expected it on newly delivered A350s from about November 2026 and on retrofitted 777s in 2027 or 2028. Until then, plan around today's seats.

How much baggage can I bring in business from the US?

Two checked bags of up to 32 kg each, plus two 8 kg cabin bags and a personal item. Departing the US, the second cabin bag is checked free.

Do I need a visa to connect in Istanbul?

Not if you stay airside on an international connection. If you leave the airport or connect to a domestic flight, the State Department says US ordinary passport holders need no visa for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

Will Turkish Airlines pay for a hotel if I stop in Istanbul?

Often, through Stopover in Istanbul. Business passengers on round trips that start in the US can get up to three free nights for layovers of 20 hours to seven days, if every flight is operated by Turkish on one booking and you apply at least 72 hours ahead.
