The Delta One seat and which aircraft have it

Delta One is Delta’s long-haul business class, and on every widebody the seat becomes a flat bed; the hardware is what varies. Delta says its Delta One Suite, with a full-height sliding door and a privacy divider between the center seats, flies on most Airbus A350 and A330-900neo flights. Both types use a staggered 1-2-1 layout, so every seat opens onto an aisle. Delta lists two A350-900 versions, one with 32 Delta One seats and a newer one with 40.

Read the full guideHide the full guide

The rest of the long-haul fleet has lie-flat Delta One seats without a door. The A330-200 and A330-300 use a reverse-herringbone 1-2-1 layout, and the Boeing 767-400ER has a refreshed staggered seat with privacy partitions; on all of them every seat reaches the aisle directly. The 767-300ER has the oldest cabin, also 1-2-1, which reviewers rank as Delta’s weakest. Ex-LATAM A350s with a 2-2-2 cabin have since been refitted with suites. Some Boeing 757-200s on domestic and Caribbean routes carry Delta One in a 2-2 layout, which is why Delta says most Delta One seats, not all, have direct aisle access.

More doors are coming. In April 2026 Delta said its A330-200 and A330-300 fleet will be refitted with suites that have privacy doors, that a new-generation suite debuts on the Airbus A350-1000 arriving in 2027, and that it expects 90 percent of Delta One seats to be door-equipped suites by 2030.

Delta One routes from the US

Delta runs long-haul Delta One flights from eight US hubs: Atlanta, New York JFK, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Salt Lake City, Seattle and Los Angeles. Atlanta has the widest spread: its winter 2026-27 schedule includes Paris, Rome, Madrid, Dublin, Buenos Aires, Santiago and Lima, and it flies the A350 to Johannesburg and Cape Town. JFK covers much of Europe plus Lagos and Dakar in West Africa, while Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City lean on Europe, with Amsterdam, Paris and Rome common.

Across the Pacific, Delta flies to Tokyo Haneda from Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Los Angeles and Seattle. Los Angeles added a daily Hong Kong nonstop in June 2026 and also serves Shanghai and Melbourne, with Manila planned from March 28, 2027. Seattle adds Tokyo Narita from March 27, 2027.

Several routes are seasonal. Boston to Dublin and Lisbon, JFK to Venice, Athens and Catania, and Detroit to Rome all pause between early January and early March 2027. Atlanta to Riyadh, first set for October 23, 2026, was pushed back on October 12 to March 2027, so confirm Middle East service close to booking.

Delta One Lounges and Sky Club access

Delta One Lounges are open at four airports: New York JFK in Terminal 4 near the main checkpoint, Los Angeles in both Terminal 3 and Terminal 2, Boston in Terminal E through the E13 Sky Club, and Seattle on Concourse A above the A11 Sky Club. Atlanta is expected in 2028, and Detroit, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City are planned without dates. At other airports, Delta One Classic and Extra tickets include Delta Sky Club access.

Entry needs a same-day Delta One ticket and boarding pass, whether you are departing, connecting or arriving. Premium-cabin passengers on Air France, KLM, Korean Air, Virgin Atlantic and LATAM can also qualify, though in Boston Air France and KLM business passengers are sent to the Air France lounge or the Sky Clubs. Credit cards, Sky Club memberships and day passes do not get you in, and only Delta 360 members can bring guests.

Basic Business keeps Delta One check-in and lounge access through January 18, 2027. For travel on or after January 19, 2027, it includes neither Delta One check-in nor the Delta One Lounge, and the ticket alone no longer opens a Sky Club.

Baggage and fare rules

Delta sells the cabin in three fares, Basic Business, Delta One Classic and Delta One Extra, with the same seat and service onboard. Basic Business, flying since September 2026 in select markets, includes no free advance seat selection, carries a smaller bag allowance, cannot be upgraded or changed on the same day, charges a fee for other changes and on cancellation leaves a partial eCredit after a fee. Classic adds advance seat selection, an eCredit when you cancel and free same-day standby. Extra refunds to the original form of payment and adds free same-day confirmed changes, offered only within the US and Canada.

For tickets that start in the US or Canada, Delta charges no change fees on Classic and Extra, only any fare difference; tickets that start elsewhere may carry fees. Delta describes a 24-hour risk-free cancellation for qualifying US-origin tickets booked directly with Delta, so ask your agent how cancellation works on a ticket they issue.

Each Delta One checked bag may weigh up to 70 pounds and measure up to 62 linear inches. How many bags are free depends on route and fare, so check your exact itinerary; Delta says Basic fares typically include one bag fewer than Classic, and Medallion members in Delta One may check up to three. Everyone gets one carry-on and one personal item, with the carry-on up to 22 x 14 x 9 inches.

Connecting through Delta hubs

Most travelers outside the hub cities start with a domestic flight. Outbound, that connection stays airside: in Atlanta the Plane Train links every concourse, so you change planes without leaving security.

Coming home is slower. You clear US customs at your first US airport, so you normally collect bags, clear customs, recheck them and pass security again. In Atlanta, arrivals at Concourse F claim bags at the shared carousels, turn left to the recheck counters and take the Plane Train onward. One layover guide says the Atlanta sequence often takes about 90 minutes, so leave a buffer. Flights from Seoul Incheon are the exception: Korean Air and Delta’s Seamless Baggage Transfer, using CBP remote screening, skips the bag recheck at Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Seattle and Los Angeles.

Delta also has joint ventures with Air France-KLM, Virgin Atlantic, Korean Air and LATAM, so one ticket can connect in Amsterdam, Paris, London or Seoul. On those legs you fly the partner’s cabin under its rules, so check which airline operates each flight.

Choosing your flight and seat

Pick the aircraft before the seat. If a door matters, look for an A350 or A330-900neo, and recheck near departure, because Delta swaps aircraft by season. For winter 2026-27, Boston flights to Dublin, Lisbon, Paris and Rome move from the A330-900neo to the A330-300, and one JFK to London Heathrow pair moves to the 767-400ER.

In the staggered suites, side seats alternate between the window and the aisle. The more private true window seats on the A350-900 are A and D in rows 3, 5 and 7, plus row 10 on the 40-seat version; on the A330-900neo they are A and J in rows 2, 4 and 6. Couples can take the center pair, B and C on the A350 or D and G on the A330-900neo.

Basic Business includes no free advance seat selection, so book Classic or Extra to secure a particular seat or sit beside a companion.

I had an excellent experience finding my business class tickets through BuyBusiness.com. I really appreciated the personal attention and transparency. It made the whole experience easy and stress-free. I’m very happy with the service I received and would definitely recommend BuyBusiness.com and Oslo Cooper to anyone looking for help with business class travel. Excellent service from start to finish!

Den Dunn worked with me to get the best price He planned our return trip from Turkeye with an airline that I had no knowledge about. He assured me that Turkish air was great, which they were. He planned our change of planes in Houston, and it was one of the smoothest transitions I have ever had. There was no long lay over. I will definitely be giving him a call the nest time we travel .

Diesel Bond was such a perfect agent. My Visa to Pakistan was extremely hard to do by myself. After 4 months going back forth with submission I was totally worn out. I had never used agency before and will never go back to doing myself! Your agency gave me such peace of mind! Will refer you to everyone! Charles Robards

I have worked with Kate Morris several times in the past couple of years...and she is now on her game more than ever. She knows what I want and she works hard to find it. She has great patience with me as my plans can change quickly. This last interaction was incredibly smooth and professional. Well done, Kate.

Delta Air Lines business class: questions

Do all Delta One seats have doors?

No. Delta One Suites with sliding doors are on many widebody aircraft such as the Airbus A350 and A330-900neo, while some older aircraft have lie-flat seats without a door. Your agent can check the aircraft for your flight.

Who can use a Delta One Lounge?

Delta One Lounges are meant for passengers flying Delta One on eligible long-haul flights. Access rules can change, so your agent can confirm what your ticket includes.

Can I combine Delta with Air France, KLM or Virgin Atlantic?

Yes. Delta shares transatlantic joint ventures with Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic, so an agent can mix their flights on one ticket when you ask by phone, the quote form or WhatsApp. Eligible fares usually earn miles; your agent can confirm.

Does every Delta One seat have a door?

No. Doors come with the Delta One Suite on most A350 and A330-900neo flights. The A330-200, A330-300 and 767s have lie-flat seats without doors, and the A330s are due for suites.

Does every Delta One seat have direct aisle access?

On every widebody, yes, thanks to 1-2-1 layouts. The exception is the Boeing 757-200, which carries Delta One in a 2-2 layout on some domestic and Caribbean routes.

What is Basic Business?

The entry Delta One fare: same seat and service, but no free advance seat selection, fewer free bags, no upgrades and change fees. From January 19, 2027, it also loses Delta One check-in, the Delta One Lounge and Sky Club access through the ticket.

Can I use a Delta One Lounge when I connect?

Yes, with a same-day Delta One ticket at JFK, Los Angeles, Boston or Seattle; departing, connecting and arriving passengers qualify. Basic Business loses access from January 19, 2027.

How much checked baggage does Delta One include?

Each bag may weigh up to 70 pounds. The number of free bags depends on route and fare, and Basic fares get fewer, so check your itinerary.

Do I recheck my bags when I fly home through a Delta hub?

Usually yes. You clear US customs at your first US airport, then recheck bags for the domestic flight, except on flights from Seoul Incheon covered by Seamless Baggage Transfer.
